Alexander woke up early the next morning as he usually did. Ever since he had Grace in his office, taking care of her was routine. He did the same thing every morning. He ran straight to the mirror to make himself presentable. Taking a shower, brushing his teeth, combing his hair, and pretty much making himself look nice for the day ahead.

As he cooked the bacon, things seemed off. Something just wasn't right. Grace usually seemed to complain about being in the medical ward, and she seemed perfectly fine all throughout the night. Once she started speaking to him, she didn't talk about leaving at all. It was strange. Was she finally getting used to being with him? He smiled at the thought He always thought himself a difficult man to live with, but perhaps not. He then started with the eggs. Suddenly somebody came into the kitchen with him.

"Nice breakfast ya got there, doc."

He jumped in shock, not realizing somebody was in the kitchen with him. Upon turning around he saw the Engineer coming in for some morning coffee. The German was not used to people seeing him in his relaxation clothes. Especially a sleeveless top. "Oh, I didn't see you there Engineer." He said taking a breath. It seemed like once again he would have to skip breakfast this time around. Two plates just brought up more questions. The real thing weighing on his mind was the thing that would happen in two days. The check ups were scaring him to death. Taking his plate to Grace he figured he would just split the food with her. He was really hungry and was sick of skipping meals.

"Hey where ya goin?" Engineer asked as he walked. The Medic didn't turn around to answer, so the Engineer just ignored him. "Well, good mornin to you too, butthole." He grumbled as he opened the newspaper.

Alexander made his way to his room. He opened the door to see there was nobody inside! He started worrying, as the food fell to the floor, the eggs falling off the plate. He looked around the area, as he took a step forward. "Grace?" He called looking around. Suddenly he heard the door behind him slowly creaking closed, as he felt a very painful bash in the back of his head knocking him out.

Grace watched him fall unconscious to the floor, as she tossed the metal tray down. Surprisingly it didn't scare the birds at all. She grabbed a hold of the fabric of his shirt, and pulled him up towards the examination table with all her strength. After a little while she managed to pull him onto it all the way. She laid him back, with a pillow behind his head. "Sorry, doctor, but promise or no promise, I can't stay in this room forever." She then grabbed her bag, one of Alexander's lab coats, and started to make her way. She then stopped, reached down to grab a strip of bacon, and proceeded out of the room, closing the doors behind her. She ran out through the halls as fast as she could, until she finally made it outside. The lab coat dragged along the ground, managing to cover her footsteps. She felt like a horrible person for knocking the Medic out, but she was losing her mind in there. She needed to get back to her team.

The snow was freezing, and she didn't have the layers she normally had with her. The coat provided her with some warmth, but it was also a bit heavy slowing her down. Still it was better than nothing. She stopped halfway to her base, to button up the buttons, when suddenly a bullet whizzed past her. Her gasp echoed out through the frozen tundra. She ran for cover when she heard the sound, but when she looked back, it was a tranquilizer dart.

Suddenly she heard Nigel's voice shouting out to her in the frozen air. "Don't run Grace. It'll only wear you out more!" He shouted. "I will catch you!" She knew he was just trying to scare her, but Hell! If it didn't work. She got down low, and took off the coat, knowing it would slow her down. She ran to the next tree. A line of darts followed right behind her. She looked up and saw Nigel on the hill. She saw him put a new set of darts in and aimed it right at her. Suddenly when he pulled the trigger, the gun shot nothing. It jammed! Perfect! She made her way through the snowy area, now at a slower pace, but still trying to make sure the man couldn't get a hold of her. Finally when she jogged over to a blind corner she stopped to catch her breath.

Nigel could go suck a railroad spike for all she cared. She rubbed her arms, the cold catching up to her. Well, there was some bad news. Somebody saw her coming out of the base, and even worse, Nigel saw her wearing one of the Medic's coats. She really screwed Alexander over now. Things couldn't get any worse.

Suddenly from around the blind corner, she saw a large slightly hairy arm shove a fistful of darts into her chest. She would have reacted to them but she fell limp right there. Thankfully a much larger body was able to keep her up. The last word she heard were "Sorry about that, Gracey."

After a while her body finally came back. She felt herself being in a warm area, and it smelled familiar. Like a place she had been before. She wanted to know where she was, but she couldn't see anything. There was a blindfold around her eyes. She tried pull it off, but her hands were tied behind her back, around the chair she could feel herself sitting in. She didn't like the position she was in and started to scream.

"HELP SOMEBODY GET ME OUT OF HERE! GET ME OUT NOW!"

"Calm down, Grace!" Nigel untied the blindfold letting her know he was there. She got a good look at him, and her surroundings. She was in his camper van, and tied to a wooden chair. "Well, this is a surprise to say the least." He squinted through his sunglasses. "Thought ya were dead." He said to her. "Imagine how awful I felt having ta tell Saphira you were dead." When she thought it over she could only imagine hearing Saphira crying her eyes out, Felix by her side trying his best to comfort her. No doubt she told the others as well. Oh God this was awful. "I spent days drinking till I passed meself out thinking you were dead." She felt awful. Nigel wasn't helping at all. He was just making her feel worse. "I need ta think this out a little bit." He said holding his hands up to his mouth. Apparently finding out she was alive was a bit too much for him. "It's like you're back from the dead." He then got angry and pulled her hair back forcefully revealing her neck. At this she no longer felt bad, and instead felt angry. "I'm gonna ask you questions."

With her head angled up she got cocky. "Why should I answer your questions?"

He snarled and got closer to the girl he swore to Zane to watch over. "Because if you even think fer a second that you want to lie to me, I will give you some really nice line scars to compliment yer pretty face." He said to her. "Now, where to begin? First question" He said yanking harder. "How is it yer still alive?"

She snorted angrily through her nose staring up at the man, she always hated. She knew this was going to be a long morning.

Meanwhile the Medic laid on his very own examination table, his head throbbing in pain. He felt a large bump in the back of his head. He didn't know how it happened or where it came from. He just felt it one second, and the next he was out like a light. He rubbed his head groaning, and the first thing he noticed was the room was empty... again. "Grace?" He looked all around the room wondering where she could be. He was getting nauseated with the thought of her getting caught, and them both being killed. Out of nowhere was a knock on the door.

He swallowed a lump in his throat, hoping to God, it was just Grace alone with nobody else with her. It was not Grace. Nigel stood there all alone smiling to him. "Hello, doctor." He said sounding cheerful like he was oblivious. "I was thinking that you and I could talk a little let's have a walk." He looked behind himself with worry, knowing that Grace was not where she was supposed to be. He didn't have time to talk. He had to look for Grace before somebody else caught her. "Oh, no worries, your birds will be just fine."

The two walked a good distance in the snow that was clean and white and beautiful. He was scared as they walked. He didn't know if Nigel knew something he didn't. He didn't seem like he knew anything, and actually seemed nicer than he did yesterday. As the two walked he really wanted to know where they were going. "Vhere are you taking me?" He said his voice cracking a bit.

"Ehh. I have a little somethin in me camper ya might find interestin." He said climbing a small hill over to the camper.

He bit his lip. "Vhat sort of somezhing." He grabbed a hold of his vest and pulled him to the side to kept him from walking. "Vhy are you acting so strange. Yesterday you vere looking around in mein office for somezhing zhat you didn't even know vas zhere, and now you are acting like you have a big surprise for me?" He didn't want to believe that Nigel was aware, but he couldn't fool himself.

"Don't be gettin defensive. Yer in no position to be." He said as he resumed walking. Finally the two made it to the camper with the Medic scared out of his mind, as the Sniper held the door open. He jumped when he slammed the door behind himself and walked over to the door that held his bed. "Does THIS belong to you?" He said opening the door, as Alexander's eyes widened. Grace laid on the bed, her face snarling at the Sniper as she had her hands tied behind her back, and her knees and legs tied together.

Alexander ran over to her. "Grace!"

He tried to help her up, and looked over at the Sniper. The Sniper merely glared at him, and started to make his point. "I found her runnin, round the field when I thought she was dead." He said watching him attempt to untie her. "Looked like a blinkin ghost hauntin the snow." He then watched as Alexander worked on her hands. Finally she was free. Once she was set loose the Sniper pulled the German off to the side slamming him up against the side of the camper. "Listen. I have gone through a lot of weird messed up shit with that kit over there, I thought she was dead on the field, and I had to go through a mess to tell her best friends that she was dead." He tightened his grip on the German's lab coat. "Why didn't you just tell me?"

The frightened medicine man was trembling at this point. "Because I vas afraid you vould turn us boss in." The Australian let him go and turned his back to him tossing his hat down to the floor. "You von't tell, vill you?" He said looking at the man that had his back to him. "Please promise me you vill not tell anybody." The Sniper sat down on a chair, and sighed.

"Alroight. I won't tell anybody tha' ya got a BLU hidin in yer office, or your room or wherever ya keep her." He said looking over at the girl that was glaring at him. "Howevah, if you think fer one minute that you can stash her in me camper, or ask to bring her food, or do anythin like that then you can forget it. I will keep her a secret but if you plan on tryin ta make me responsible for yer screw up, I will not do it." He shook him by the fabric of his clothes. "Do you understand me?"

Suddenly Grace tapped his shoulder, and punched him square in the jaw, and the Australian fumbled backwards. She stood there defensively "Shake him like that again, and I will rip you to pieces." He rubbed his chin, and turned away. He obviously was not a fan of being hit. Alexander glared at her mad, making a signal that showed her she was pushing her luck.

Alright." He said holding up a hand "I'll let that slide." He said turning back to them "I don't want ta see either of you two get killed, and that is the truth. I won't turn you both in. Here's what I'm gunna do. I'm gonna let you both come with me to the phone booth, in me camper, then I'm gonna call Saphira and tell her that you're still alive, and then I'm gonna let you two hide." He said holding his hands together.

The three made their way to the closest rest stop on the highway. Nigel dialed the number he remembered so easily. He looked over to the two that pulled him into this mess. He made the gesture that meant he would cut their heads off. Alex looked down at the girl who was waiting to talk to her friends. "Who is Saphira?

She looked up and sighed. "A friend of mine that I met at my very first map." She said looking ahead.

Meanwhile in the medbay of Teufort, A BLU Medic was trying his best to comfort a sobbing girl who was sitting on one of the beds.

"I'm so sorry Saphira..." He said rubbing her back trying to comfort her. There really was no comfort to be given though. Where was the bright side to this at all. A few days ago they were told about the accident and could hardly believe it happened. Suddenly the phone rang. They almost didn't want to pick up they were so miserable. Felix left her side just for a moment to see what it was. "Ha-hallo?" He said his voice sounding small and weak.

"Felix?" Nigel said making sure it him. "This is Felix right?" He said clutching the phone cord near the booth.

"Ja. It's me... You kinda caught us at a bad time zhough, Saphira vas having nightmares again."

"Look,-who cares? Listen to me."

"Who cares?!" The German man repeated him. "Listen to me! We care!" He said into the phone.

"Would ya just listen? It seems that she don't need to have them nightmares no more." He said smiling. "She's alive!"

"VHAT!? Are you serious!?"

Hearing the commotion coming from the other room, the Huntress got up to her feet, deciding to listen in on the conversation.

"You had better not be trying to mess vizh us." He said snarling.

Nigel suddenly shook his head. "No, I'm tellin' the trufe!" He said looking at her. "I'm staring at her right now, and she is in one piece."

The German didn't really trust the RED, "...Put her on zhe phone..."

Nigel rolled his eyes. "BLUs! I swear they won't believe nothin comin outta me mouth." He turned to Grace. "It's fer you." He said holding the telephone out to her. "They won't believe me, so perhaps they'll believe you."

She smiled "Gimme, the phone!" She smirked grabbing the phone out of his hand. "Hello, hello? Saphira!?" She listened for a moment to hear somebody's voice. "It's Grace." She said smiling.

For a moment the German could hardly breath. Was it truly her? "..." He turned around to face Saphira, "Zhere is someone who vants to talk to you."

The Huntress took the phone from him. "H-hello?" She sniffed her voice thick with sadness.

"Hello?" She said back. "Hey, gal, it's me!" She said smiling through the phone.

"GRACE!? I-i-is that really you!?"

The doors flew open as a BLU Sniper entered the room, he had been making his way down to the ward to check on Saphira and he comes to this! He stared at the group still wiping his tears away "Yes. It's me." She smiled. "I'm alive. I guess you haven't got my letter yet."  She said to her. "Yes, I'm alive." She said "I was left behind by my team, when we lost. I almost bled to death, but the RED Medic on their side saved me."

Saphira smiled, there were a few kind hearted RED's such as the Spy here, and now a Medic! She felt someone tap her shoulder, it was Zane. He had tears streaming down his face, "I-is... is that really her?" The Huntress smiled and nodded her head. He took a deep breath, sitting down trying to regroup. When Saphira held the phone out he took it in his shaking hands. "Hello?"

She held the phone closer. "Zane, is that you?" She asked raising an eyebrow.

"I-i-its me k-kit..." He was so overcome with emotion, he couldn't stop from shaking. "Holy Dooley! I thought you were dead!" He said groaning from his stress being pushed away. "Whu? How did you survive?"

She smiled. "I was filled with buckshot, but my new friend found me, and saved me." She said smiling listening to her friend's relief. "Don't worry about me. I'm being taken great care of." She assured him. She didn't want her dear friend to worry.

He smiled relieved of the whole thing. "I am so relieved to hear your voice." He said turning to the others. "I mean, what are the chances that out of the entire massacre that you would be the one to make it out alive?"

"Massacre? What massacre?" She said grabbing the phone looking off to her side. Alexander and Nigel stared at each other. The one thing they had not thought out. They should have known that they couldn't keep it a secret forever.

He looked into the phone for a moment. "You mean...they never told you?"

She started getting confused, and her mind tried to put together what exactly was going on. "Who never told me what?"

Saphira tapped Zane's shoulder. He looked back at her and nodded, knowing it be best if she were the one to tell the Scout about what they had heard. "Grace..." She said once she grabbed the phone. "Your entire team was killed." Her eyes widened. "An unknown shooter killed every single one of them. You were the only one that got out alive. We thought that you were killed along with them, and when it was in the news, it said nobody made it out. Nigel hadn't seen you anywhere on the field and just assumed that your body was just blown to pieces." She said into the phone. "They're all gone."

She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her entire team was gone! So that was why they never came for her. Because they were all dead! She dropped the phone trying to pull together this news. She couldn't leave his ward, because there was no team to go back to. She couldn't talk or form proper words. The ground started to spin really fast, and she was getting dizzy. She merely turned around, and looked at the two.

"They're gone." She said to them.

All of a sudden she started to lean to the side, as she fainted in front of the phone booth. Alexander caught her before she could bust her head against the ground. Nigel helped him hold her, as he picked up the phone. "Hey, we'll uhh. Call you back." He said. He then hung up the phone without saying goodbye.

"Zhis vas vhy I didn't vant to tell her." He sighed trying to pull her up. He pulled her over to the  camper, and Nigel drove her back to the base. With a little luck they could sneak her back in.

As Nigel drove back to the base, he looked over to the man in the passenger seat. He had so many questions, but he could only say a few words to begin. "Yer a true hero, mate." He said smiling to the German. "Don't think think any less of that." He glanced back at the girl he plucked from the blood soaked ground. He still couldn't answer his own question as to why he saved her. It was something he couldn't put his finger on.

"I don't know vhy I did it zhough. I mean, I am not one to be zhe bravest, or zhe smartest, und I am certainly not a strong man!" He thought back to when he was a child. Even back then he was an extremely bashful, clumsy, and everythin in between.

The Australian looked at him. "Perhaps ya just like her mate." He smiled to him. "Don't be embarrassed."

He tensed up. "Zhat is preposterous. I do not have feelings for her! Look at her! She is younger zhan I am by many years!" The glance on Nigel's face told him that as far as he was concerned age was just a jumble of numbers that changed every year. "I just couldn't imagine such a zhing. She is just a little girl. I cannot have feelings for somebody zhat is only tventy vone." He whispered with accusation in his voice. "At tventy vone I vas  at a competely different place, and went through much more zhan she could imagine." He said getting defensive."Ve vill never be togezher."

Nigel looked behind himself at the slumbering girl. "Oh come off yer high horse, doctor, and take gander at her." He said looking back. "Black raven hair, dark coppery skin, big green eyes! She's pretty cute. Stop trying to be modest, and admit it. Yer a man, she's a girl. I am too. If ya won't admit she's cute, I will..."

He raised an eyebrow "But... her eyes are brown." The Sniper darted to him with a smile. He just made a point showing that he looked into her eyes at some point. "Oh, please all Cherokee have brown eyes." The Sniper just shook his head and smirked.

As they headed back to the base, Alexander just stared outside a they made their way through the snow. He couldn't have had feelings for an enemy he had just recently met... could he? He looked behind him as she laid there sleeping. Nigel said that when something stressful happened she reverted to sleep as a way to cope. Suddenly he decided to take in her beauty her skin was rather smooth, and feminine as was her long hair. Her eyes were rather big, and doe like. He was a sucker for pretty eyes. Dark brown ones nonetheless. Still just because he would admit she was beautiful, it didn't mean he had feelings for her."Well, if ya are lyin then ya better set aside yer pride, and act soon mate, because if ya wait too long ta scoop her up somebody else will" he said as he pulled over. They parked outside the entrance of the surplus delivery dock.

Putting things back in order and cleaning up the eggs on the floor Alexander had a small soft pad on the back of his head. It was hard laying his head back on things like the Sniper's passenger seat. She told the Medic what she had done, and that she was sorry. Still regardless he was a bit upset that she had tried to run away. It made him feel monstrous for keeping her here. She didn't trust him, and wanted to get away from him. He felt like an idiot. He just resumed throwing the mess away. Finally she spoke up. "You're mad at me aren't you?"

Biting his lip, then pursing them he wanted to say yes, but he let out a heavy sigh. "Nein. I am not mad at you." He then threw the eggs in the trash to which he closed so the birds wouldn't get in. "But I ask zhat you never run away again. Zhe Sniper could have turned us bozh in if he vanted to." He looked back up at her. "It's good zhat he knew you enough to vhere he trusted you."

"He isn't as great as you think he is." She said her voice extremely melancholy. She was still handling the news about her team really bad. "I know he shot and killed Constantine."  She said looking down as her feet dangled over the edge of the examination table. For being here for the past few days, the cold hard surface turned out to be her preferred spot even more so than the perfectly normal recliner next to it.

Alexander heard the whole story the night before, when Nigel told him of his forcing her to be his girlfriend. Apparently the girl hadn't wished death upon him. "You do realize he was forcing you to be his girlfriend." He said to her leaning on the side of the examination table, his elbows resting on it.

She shrugged. "He didn't deserve to die over it." Sometimes she was so cute, but other times she was also really stupid. He didn't wish her any other way though.

"You are such an idiot" He said to her. Pushing himself up from the edge of the table. "You need to figure out your self worth." She simply looked down and shrugged. That was the main problem he had with todays youth. They were so self insultive, and acted like they had no self confidence. He then pulled himself up onto the table and looked over to her. "Vhat am I going to do vizh you?" He said sighing pinching the bridge of his nose. The day had been so hectic, he hardly even had time to think straight.

Grace looked down "Well, you had better think of something soon, because I really can't stay here forever." She said glancing back up at him. "You need to take me to your bedroom tomorrow, because staying in this room is going to make me go crazy." He wrapped an arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer into his chest.

"Don't vorry. I vill move you tomorrow. I svear!" He said smiling grabbing hold of her chin. She smiled and looked away bashfully. When he looked at his watch he realized it was night! Was he really so busy he just wasted the whole day away? Ten thirty at night! No wonder he was so exhausted. he needed to get some sleep. "Oh my! It's getting incredibly late. I need to send mein self to sleep." She raised an eyebrow. Sleeping so early? "Vhen your mein age you vill understand."

He made his way towards the door ready to excuse himself to his room. Suddenly the young Scout jumped down from her seat on the table. "Well, sleep well then I guess. " Out of nowhere he felt soft lips up against his cheek as she made a kissing sound. Time seemed to skip suddenly out of nowhere. When he looked back quickly she had already been turned away, to make her way toward the table that had been her bed for the past week. Turning back away before he could be spotted staring, he closed the doors behind him.

The German held a gloved hand up to his face, feeling the spot there wondering if it really happened or if it was just his imagination. He grinned wider than he thought he could, and made his way to his room. Grinning like an idiot. As he closed the doors to his bedroom, he laid awake, thinking about it. But, what was there to think about? It was a kiss. Her lips against his skin. Nothing else. But what was the intended purpose for it? Would it happen again?

...Part of him hoped so.
Yay! This was a good one! i had so much fun with this one! Alot of action going on. Getting caught by the enemy Sniper, knocking out the German man, all that good stuff. I felt like their relationship was moving that fast, so I threw in a few flirty moments, and I feel like it did some good for them. Alexander, what are we going to do him? He says that he is too old for Grace, but he being really immature! Why does he find it so difficult to just like Grace?! Who freaking cares if she is on the BLU team!? FAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! Anways I hope to pull some parts with Grace's family in soon. Even if it is just a few parts with her picture album or whatever. If anybody has any good ideas I would love to hear them. I want to get back into the habit of writing this.
